From this union, five children were born. He later moved to Pocomoke City, Maryland where he met and married Edna Reynolds until her death. He lived in Maryland for over 50 years before moving to Gainesville, FL in 2018 where he resided until his passing.

He leaves to cherish his memory his five kids, Barbara Jernigan, Lorene (Bennie) Patterson, Willie James (Calandra) Cooper, Ida (Jerome) Goodman, Marguretta (Mike) Brown. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, a special niece Renee Schoolfield, and a special friend Betty Harris.
