Janice Elliott Obituary

Obituary

Janice Carolyn Elliott was born on May 27th, 1956, in Blackshear, GA to Frances Mae Elliott and the late Paul Eady. At 2yrs old, she and her mother moved to Jacksonville, FL where she was raised alongside her aunts and cousins. Janice graduated from Robert E. Lee high school in 1974 and went on to work in the hospitality industry for a few years before starting her career in education. Janice worked in the Duval County Public School system at Palm Avenue for 34 years before enjoying retirement.

As a two-time breast cancer survivor, Janice always lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling around the country, cruising the Caribbean and experiencing luxurious things. Some of her favorite things to do in her spare time were dancing, enjoying crab trays, and spending time with her family. Janice was a devoted Christian. She gave her life to Christ in 1989 under the leadership of Reverend Badger at Emmauel Baptist Church and later joined Philippian Community Church, where she served as a faithful choir member up until her passing.

Janice was preceded in death by her father Paul Eady, and her grandmother Rosie Elliott.

She is survived by her mother Frances Branstetter, her two children Kimberly and Brian (Bridgette) Elliott, her grandchildren Kiana “KiKi”, Briana “Bri”, Kiera “Shay”, Tierra “TeTe”, Claresha “Fatma”, and Anthony “Big Poppa”. Her two great-grandsons Ashton “Buddy” Mercer and Zachary Jones. Her bonus grandchildren, Aadian, Aaleiah, Randy, and Ryan. Her aunt Diana Elliott, her best friends Loretha Belcher, Patty Way, Jean Holmes, and several other family and friends.

Poem

Don’t Cry for Me

Don’t cry for me, I will be okay.

This resting place is my home for now, and this is where I’ll stay.

Don’t cry for me, I’m where I belong.

I want you to be happy and try to stay strong.

Don’t cry for me. It was just my time, but I will see you someday on the other side.

Don’t cry for me. I am not alone.

When it's time, Jesus will one day welcome me home.

Don’t cry for me, for I had no fear.

All my pain is gone, and Jesus took my tear.

Don’t cry for me, this is not the end.

I’ll be waiting here for you when we meet again.

Don’t Stand at my grave and Weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
