Mark Mann Obituary

Mark Carlos Altareck Mann was born July 29, 1977, in Macon, Georgia to the parentage of Sandra Dale Fossett Mann and the late Eddie James Mann. He was affectionately called “Markie” by his family.

Markie was a loving person with a big smile and a big heart. He loved life and he loved helping people. Even when he made bad choices and found himself in a negative environment, he still tried to be a role model and set a positive example for those around him.

He loved sports and especially enjoyed playing basketball. An avid player of board games, he was a fierce competitor, a self-proclaimed “Game Master” and the “King of Scrabble”; there was never a game of Chess, Checkers, Dominos or Scrabble that he did not “win”.

He had a hearty appetite and definitely had a “sweet tooth”. Skittles and other fruity, chewy candies were among his favorites, as were Rice Krispy Treats, Snickers, and peppermints.

Markie enjoyed studying the Bible, and he established and lead many Bible Study groups. In his conversations with family and friends, he would often discuss and explain scriptures, explore Bible prophecies, and examine the book of Revelations. One of his desires was to become a preacher/speaker to share God’s word with others and help them to know how much God loves them.

Strength and endurance were two of his trademarks. Over a span of more than eight years, he endured and previously “beat” Cancer multiple times. Yet in the early hours of May 8th, 2024, he lost the final battle… But, he won the war. He received the ultimate Parole when God called him home. No more pain, no more suffering, and no more prison bars. Markie is finally FREE!!

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted fiancé, Marie David, his mother, Sandra Fossett Mann, three brothers: John “Jamie” Mann, Paul “Pooh Bear” (Daphne) Jacobs, and Marrio Mann, one sister; Vonetia “Missy” Mann; A special Cousin; Tanisha “Tiny” Fossett; three aunts: Rosa Fossett-Gilbert, Hattie Hughes, and Paula Fossett-Platt; four Uncles: Joe Fossett, Clifford "Jimmy" (Julia) Fossett, Jack Fossett, and David Fossett; one daughter; Shana (Jonathan) Provencher; three grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends
