Olivia "Libby" Williams Obituary

Olivia Ann Williams, affectionally known as “Libby”, was born October 24, 1969 to Alma Samms and the late Robert Williams, Jr in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She departed this life into eternal glory on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

Olivia accepted Christ at an early age, and she held onto God’s hand until the day she departed this earth. Olivia was a faithful member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where she served until death. She was a member of the choir and was passionate about singing Zion songs. Olivia loved her church which she often referred to as “the Mount”.

Educationally, Olivia was a product of the Broward County School District where she completed high school. Olivia worked in the Culinary Arts industry where she utilized her unique gifts to provide exceptional service to the many customers that she encountered during her career.

Personally, she was the mother of one son, Anton Gantt and a grandmother of two grandsons, Anton “Pooh” Samms and A’shon Gantt. Three months prior to death, Olivia’s biggest wish was granted. She had the opportunity to meet her new grandson, A’shon Gantt, who lives in Kansas City, Kansas. Her greatest personal fulfillment in life was her son of whom she was very proud, and she adored her grandsons.

Olivia was known for her illuminating smile and her unmatched sense of humor. She brought laughter and joy to any room that she entered. Olivia was an authentic person with a strong will. She loved her family with her heart and soul and enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends.  Olivia loved to explore her passion for cooking which became one of her favorite hobbies. Olivia was loved by many and will be missed by all of those who knew her.

Olivia was preceded in death by her father, Robert Williams, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories: her Mom, Alma (Percival) Samms (Ft. Lauderdale, FL); one son, Anton (Lamesha) Gantt (Kansas City, KS); two grandsons: Anton (Pooh) Samms (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) and A’shon Gantt (Kansas City, KS); one stepbrother, Enrique (Alfreda) Samms (Atlanta, GA); three aunts: Mahalia Allen (Live Oak, FL), Alice (Greg) Roberts (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), and Gwendolyn Larry (Woodcliff Lake, NJ); her best friend and sister, Stephanie Engram (Ft. Lauderdale, FL), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
