Patricia Ann Maxwell was born on January 29th, 1955, to the late Bunion and Ruby Martin. She was the youngest of Bunion and Ruby’s five children. Patricia was born in Miami, Florida but she spent most of her life between Live Oak and Lake City, Florida. Patricia was a loving and devoted person known for her illuminating smile and a giving heart. Pat had one child whom she loved with all of her heart, Michael Martin.
Patricia confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Mt. Moriah I.A.M.E Church in Padlock, FL. Patricia served as a Sunday School teacher, Church Announcer, Financial Secretary, and a faithful Stewardess. She was a faithful and devoted servant of the Lord until her departure.
Patricia graduated from Suwannee High School in 1973. She worked for the North Florida Telephone Company for 20 years. She then completed her career at Av-Med Insurance Company for 17 years where she retired.
Patricia was prepared and ready to answer the call to see her Heavenly Father. She called her family members near and far so that they could hear her voice as she told them how much she loved them. Surrounded by her loved ones, Patricia caught the morning train on Monday, July 31st, 2023, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital as the voice of Jesus said, “Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls.” She closed her eyes, placed her hands in God’s hands and went home to be with her Savior.
Patricia was preceded in death by her loving mother, the late Ruby Martin; her father, the late Bunion Martin; her husband, the late Louis Maxwell; one loving sister, the late Barbara Holmes; and two brothers: the late Freddie Holmes and Hamilton Martin.
Patricia leaves to celebrate and cherish her life: one loving and caring son, Michael A. Martin of Decatur, Georgia; one aunt Theresa St. James of New Jersey; three step children: Rhonda Kelly, Delia White and Vincent Maxwell with a host of step grandchildren of Lake City, Florida; One devoted sister, Lou Vera Baker of Live Oak, Florida; two honorary sisters, Annette McCaskill and Roberta (Lynn) Cross of Live Oak; three nephews, LaDale (Kutana) Baker of Live Oak, Florida , Freddie Sr. (Rolynda “Lynda”) Holmes of Tallahassee, Florida; Domonique (Soo-Ling) Hardman of Lake City, Florida; one niece Demetrea (Onya) Hardman of Tampa, Florida; one honorary niece, Shena Randolph of Apopka, Florida; ten nieces and nephews: Danielle, Demari, Dylan and Deven Baker, all of Live Oak, Florida; Victoria, Lauryn and Freddie Holmes Jr, all of Tallahassee, Florida, Anan-Eya, Domarion, and Christopher Hardman all of Lake City, Florida and one god daughter Nicolette (Rene) Williams of Live Oak, Florida.
