Verletta Kyer Obituary

Ms.Verletta “Monique” Kyer daughter of Nathaniel and Verdie Mae Claridy – Lane as born September 23,1965 in New Smyrna Beach Florida.

Monique transitioned on July 23,2024 at the Haven-Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center in Lake City, was preceded in death by both parents, sister Lisa Wilson, brother Herman Lane and husband, Curtis Kyer.

 Monique relocated to Live Oak, When she was a child and attended the Suwannee County School System were She graduated and completed her education.

Monique relocated to Lake City Florida where she started working for the Head Start Suwannee Valley Four C’S for 15 years. She loved children and did whatever she could to make sure they received the love and care that they deserved. 

Monique was formerly a member of Westside Church of Christ, The Church of Faith and Deliverance through Christ Inc. under the leadership of Her father in law the late Bishop Zane Cray Sr. , later in life, she became a member of Saints in Christ Deliverance Temple under the leadership of Pastor Leonard Dixion Sr.  She became a member of Souls Harbor Church Of God In Christ under the leadership of Superintendent Melvin Goggins, singing in the Sanctuary Choir and the Radio Broadcast Choir. She was a former member of the Anointed Voices of Praise.  Dr. Derrick McAlister, director, where she built the leadership department of the community choir as she was their First Elected Business Manager. She wrote "Don't Wait until the battle is over" which was recorded live at Souls' Harbor COGIC and released in 2001... featured on AVOP's first Album entitled: God Is Real and released on their Second Project Entitled "we've come to worship" 2015 her song is still being played all over radio stations today. Producers Melvin "MG" Goggins and Larry Wilson produced these projects as stated from them both it was a Joy recording and working with Verletta Monique. 

Monique leaves to cherish one daughter Toccara Clayton, Lake City, Three sons Tony Clayton Jr. (Teresa), Alan Clayton (Stephanie),  both of Live Oak, Brain Clayton Lake City, Grand Children Ty’Kilyus Clayton, A’yanna Clayton, K’nya Rogers, Taraji Clayton, Armani Clayton, Titus Clayton, Nevaeh Ault, Bryson Clayton, Scarlett Clayton,  Great Grand Children, Ma’Lani Alexander, and Jordan Alexander Jr. one aunt Betty Claridy, Colorado Springs, Co., one uncle Eugene Claridy Miami Fla, one niece Crystal Wilson, Hartford Connecticut, A host of cousins, Her dearest friends Pauline Lewis, Rose Lee, and Sonya Butts, her god-sisters Mamie and Mattie Clayton
